Noah’s Ark (via Wikipedia)
Noah’s Ark (Hebrewתיבת נח‎; Biblical HebrewTevat Noaḥ) is the vessel in the Genesis flood narrative (Genesis chapters 6–9) by which Noah saves himself, his family, and a remnant of all the world’s animals from the flood. God gives Noah detailed instructions for building the ark: it is to be of gopher wood, smeared inside and out with pitch, with three decks and internal compartments; it will be 300 cubits long (137.16 m, 450 ft), 50 wide (22.86 m, 75 ft), and 30 high (13.716 m, 45 ft); it will have a roof “finished to a cubit upward”; and an entrance on the side. The story goes on to describe the ark being afloat throughout the flood and subsequent receding of the waters before it came to rest on Mount Ararat. The story is repeated, with variations, in the Quran, where the ark appears as Safina Nuh (Arabicسفينة نوح‎ “Noah’s boat”). [Read more]

Noah’s Ark (Christian Animated Cartoon Movie)

Atheist ‘Noah’ Director Brags Film is Least Biblical Bible Movie Ever

Note to Christians and those who believe the Bible: The producer of the movie “Noah,” a self-professed atheist, says he is proud of the fact that he’s taken a story inspired by God’s word and turned it into something so secular. Director Darren Aronofsky called his movie “the least biblical biblical film ever made,” The Telegraph reported. He also claimed his leading character, Noah, was the “first environmentalist,” something that suggests the movie storyline doesn’t exactly follow the Bible’s. [Read more]

101 Reasons Why Noah’s Story Doesn’t Float

noahs-beaver-problem[1]I can think of no superior example thoroughly demonstrating why the Bible is not the holy word of any deity than the tale of Noah and his ark. Although this book is intended to be a short introduction of biblical problems for those still hanging onto their programmed beliefs, I’m unable to fathom how I can be concise with the tale of the global flood. Rather than bogging you down with some mind numbing scientific data, I’ll try to present the various problems in an organized yet fun to read manner. [Read more]

Top Ten Reasons Noah’s Flood is Mythology

There are several good treatments of this subject at other websites, for example, see this from the National Center for Science Education (NCSE):The Impossible Voyage of Noah’s Ark, and also this from TalkOrigins: Problems with a Global Flood. But here we’ll give you our own humble list. Due the the subject matter, it won’t be remarkably original. [Read more]

Noah’s Ark Debunked…Again

fedd0c28cab26dfaf41785392c97a7b7[1]Of course the wood discovered on Mt. Ararat in Turkey is not the fabled Noah’s Ark. That this find has been reported with any seriousness at all in the media is stunning. Noah’s Ark Ministries, International, a Hong Kong evangelical organization, teamed up with Media Evangelism and set off to find Noah’s ark. Naturally, they found just what they were looking for. Instead of reporting their findings in peer-reviewed archaeological journals and subjecting them to further study, they chose to hold a press conference and claim they were 99.9% certain they’d found Noah’s Ark. Noah’s Ark Discovered … Again and Again

In this world there are things that seem on the verge of being discovered every so often, yet never quite materialize. The “Lost City” of Atlantis, for example, has been “found” at least a half dozen times. One researcher is pretty sure it is in Bolivia; another says it is Antarctica; a third claims that Bimini beachrock may be from the lost civilization. So it is with Noah’s Ark. [Read more]

Problems with a Global Flood: Second Edition

Creationist models are often criticized for being too vague to have any predictive value. A literal interpretation of the Flood story in Genesis, however, does imply certain physical consequences which can be tested against what we actually observe, and the implications of such an interpretation are investigated below. Some creationists provided even more detailed models, and these are also addressed. [Read more]
Bill Nye Destroys Noah’s Ark

Noah’s Ark
There are about six hundred global flood myths from every continent in the world, according to the well-regarded website, talkorigins.org.  There are many more narratives concerning historical floods that were local.  Our concern in this lecture is with the Great Flood, or Noah’s Flood, described in the 6-8 sections of Genesis in the Old Testament Bible.  We shall be glancing at the probable forerunners to the Noah’s Flood myth, how they are both similar and different from the Biblical tale, what the flood story meant to the early Christian Church, and what happened when geology became a viable science. We shall turn our attention to the attempt to reconcile the Old Testament with science, leading to the so-called Mosaic geology, and to the contemporary scientific discoveries and the attacks on them from creationists.  We shall also glance at Grand Canyon geology in the United States because many creationists have taken up arguments that the formations of the Canyon “prove” there was a global flood that inundated the earth at one time.  Nothing could be further from the truth.
